Grassroots organizations are doing some of the most important work out there, with the least resources. They build education programs and need storytelling in their unique setting, bringing good change to places where bigger, more established organizations do not.
These organizations are the fabric of their communities, but often lack the resources they need to offer the educational resources and create the media that would best fulfill their missions. Larger consulting, educational and media agencies are often priced out of reach for these organizations, and can take top-down approaches whereby community priorities are neglected.
In response, I've initiated a process of Community Supported Education and Storytelling, creating a bridge between a Community of Support and a Community of Action! Supporters who would like to support these types of initiatives (including you!) can connect with grassroots organizations that can benefit from my consulting through the donation platform Patreon. I seek a participatory, relational approach to education and storytelling that speaks to intersectional, cross-cutting perspectives, both local and global.
As donations come in from the Community of Support, I and my collaborators are empowered to provide educational and storytelling services to Communities of Action that otherwise wouldn't have the ability to pay market price for them. From small businesses to grassroots nonprofits, our world needs more of these organizations to have a means of accomplishing their program and communications goals! Financial support can help fund:
- site design (gardens, for example), installation and program development
- environmental and sustainability presentations, workshops and courses
- participatory photography for storytelling and reporting impact
As the Patreon fund grows, more and stronger partnerships between myself as an educator and storyteller serving small organizations will be made possible. These financial resources bring life to initiatives otherwise out of reach!
